In the land that is known as Phoenicia, empires rise and fall. It is the clever ruler, or player, who can come up with new ideas, establish trade, and found a city state -- such as the great Phoenician cities of Tyre and Sidon in this buffer area and crossroads between civilizations. The trick is to build something that will outlast many neighboring empires.
Phoenicia is about building an empire worthy of an entry into the annals of time. You have to build up your economy and increase your population while you hold the others at bay. You will be challenged by your neighboring countries for the next technology advancement which will help you to feed your population. It is well known that without the strength of your people you have nothing.
The end game is simple. The first player to successfully found a city-state wins!
Phoenicia is for 2-5 players, ages 12+ and takes about 60-90 minutes to play. Phoenicia includes: 1 central scoring mat and 1 overlord cylinder, 5 sets of colored player pieces (4 village tiles, 1 scoring cylinder, 1 production disc, 5 cubes for marking discounts), 10 settlement tiles, 45 worker pawns, 40 storehouses, 35 brown discs, 48 development cards, 40 production cards, 2 sheets of charts and rules. |
